The 21-year-old Arab terrorist who stabbed an elderly man to death a year ago in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood was sentenced Thursday to life in prison plus 14 years.
Muhammad Albadan stabbed 86-year-old Avraham Ozeri as he was walking near his home in the neighborhood. Ozeri was survived by two children and six grandchildren.
Albadan, who was a resident of the Arab village of Tekoa in eastern Gush Etzion, was fleeing from police when he murdered the elderly man. He also stabbed the 32-year-old police officer who had stopped him and asked him to present identification. The officer was moderately wounded but managed to shoot and wound the terrorist, slowing him down. Police said he probably prevented the terrorist from carrying out a more serious attack.
The terrorist was finally stopped by a Jerusalem city inspector and a second citizen who grabbed and held on to him until police took him into custody.
