Israel National Radio show host Walter Bingham tours southern Israel and gets a first-hand glimpse at Israeli life under rocket fire. Walter is the host of Walter's World, broadcast live every Sunday.

Walter: "This Kassam rocket fell near a fortified bus shelter near the Police Station.  My whole body shook.  The police brought it in and it was almost too hot to hold. I was told to wash my hands in case the rockets had chemicals on it."

An underground shelter where Ashkelon children are fed and entertained for most of the day while parents are at work.

They are not allowed upstairs, so as not to hear or see images of war while there.

Interior of the courtyard and room of the bombarded house in Sderot. An eldery lady has just left the bedroom and was slightly injured. Had she been in the bedroom, it could have been much worse.

Another part of that house

The mezuzah (ritual parchment) on the front door of the bombarded Sderot  home.

This one fell at the same time as the other one in Sderot,

but as you can see from the sand, it hit an open area

Brought in to the Sderot Police Station, still very hot.

A diagram of a Kassam rocket. They are smaller and less powerful then a Grad or Katyusha rocket.

A woman fron Gaza in the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon about to give birth. Her other baby is being treated in the Pediatric ward.

Her view of the war: "Glad to be in the hospital, but Israel is acting disproportionately."  Her husband and four children are in Gaza.

This one fell in Sderot earlier in the day. The police have marked it with the date and location.
