President Donald Trump hit his likely 2020 Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, Sunday, tying the former Vice President to growing calls on the far-left for the abolition of police forces in the US.

In a tweet Sunday afternoon, President Trump warned that if elected, Biden and fellow Democrats would “defund” law enforcement agencies. Trump vowed to promote “law and order” if reelected.

“Sleepy Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats want to “DEFUND THE POLICE”. I want great and well paid LAW ENFORCEMENT. I want LAW & ORDER!”

Trump also accused Biden and the Democratic party of being controlled the far-left activists now pushing to defund not only law enforcement agencies but the military as well.

“Not only will Sleepy Joe Biden DEFUND THE POLICE, but he will DEFUND OUR MILITARY! He has no choice, the Dems are controlled by the Radical Left.”

Despite his pledge to uphold law and order, however, President Trump said he would being withdrawing National Guard forces from Washington D.C., saying protests over the weekend had been smaller than anticipated.

“I have just given an order for our National Guard to start the process of withdrawing from Washington, D.C., now that everything is under perfect control. They will be going home, but can quickly return, if needed. Far fewer protesters showed up last night than anticipated!”

On Saturday, Black Lives Matter activists ejected Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey out of a protest rally after he refused to commit to defunding his city’s police department.

Similarly, Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar demanded the “dismantling” of the police department.
