An IDF soldier was critically injured in a car accident in southern Israel on Wednesday night, it was cleared for publication on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred on Route 232 near Kibbutz Mefalsim. An initial investigation revealed that the soldier crossed the road and made his way to a bus stop on the other side of the road, and was hit by a vehicle.

The soldier was evacuated to the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said his family has been notified.

In another accident on Wednesday evening, a 55-year-old woman was killed in a collision between two vehicles on Route 4613 near the Bareket junction in central Israel.

A man about 70 years of age was seriously injured in the accident. He was evacuated to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

An initial investigation of the accident revealed that one of the vehicles had deviated from its path and crashed into a second vehicle in the opposite lane.
