An 18-year-old Israeli is missing in Georgia, in the Caucasus, after he entered a river in the city of Tbilisi and was carried away by the water.

The man entered the water with three friends in order to cross the river, but slipped and drifted with the current. His three friends were unharmed.

The young man's parents were making their way to Georgia on Thursday evening. The Chabad emissary in Tbilisi, Rabbi Meir Kozlovsky, who also serves as head of ZAKA in the country, is assisting in the efforts to locate the missing Israeli, in coordination with the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Embassy in Georgia.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said, "Local rescue forces are working in the area to locate the missing Israeli in Georgia and tomorrow will be joined by rescue forces from Israel. The Israeli consul is at the scene.”
