A 15-year-old Israeli girl was lightly injured Monday afternoon in the wake of an attempted stabbing attack on Bar-Lev Boulevard in Jerusalem. A 29-year-old man standing nearby suffered shock.

Magen David Adom paramedics at the scene provided first response treatment to the victims and transported them to Hadassah Medical Center in the capital.

The terrorist was shot and neutralized. He is in serious condition.

An initial investigation indicates police officers stationed on Bar-Lev Boulevard noticed an Arab man who aroused their suspicions. They walked over to question him when he pulled out a knife and tried to stab them.

Failing to injure the officers, the terrorist began to flee, with knife in hand. Police chased after the terrorist and shot him in the legs, successfully disarming him.

The teenage girl was apparently injured by bullet fragments from shots fired in the melee, police noted in a statement.
