Military Ombudsman Yitzhak Brick has demanded, in a letter to the prime minister and defense minister, the establishment of an external committee to examine the Israel Defense Forces' preparedness for war.
In the letter, Brick criticized the committee that the IDF chief of staff had set up to examine the IDF's competence. He wrote: "The committee includes involved officers and professionals, and there is a risk of conflict of interest, especially when it comes to the level of responsibility of the senior echelon in the IDF. I find a serious deterioration in crucial areas of the readiness of the ground forces in the IDF for war."
