The Ministerial Law Committee on Sunday will discuss extending daylight savings (summer) time beyond its current ending date, which usually comes out several days before Yom Kippur. A law proposed by Meretz MK Nitzan Horowitz would align Israel's daylight savings period with that of Europe's meaning that daylight savings time would be extended by nearly two months in most years. The committee will discuss the bill despite the fact that Interior Minister Eli Yishai, whose ministry is responsible for time changes, has not rendered an opinion, and a special committee he established has not yet delivered its report.
Twenty Mks are sponsoring the measure along with Horowitz.
