The Shabbat crisis has ended with an apology from Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The Shas and United Torah Judaism parties protested last night the government\'s double desecration of Shabbat in the take-off of El Al flights from New York and the Sharon-Peres meeting. At the start of this morning\'s Cabinet meeting, Sharon apologized for his meeting as well as for Transportation Minister Ephraim Sneh\'s decision to allow the flights. The Prime Minister said that he felt his meeting with Peres was critically important, although he understands that it was in \"bad taste.\" He also said that he understands Sneh\'s decision, but that he has asked him to consult with him first before making such decisions in the future.
