A second son of the Israeli-Arab suicide terrorist who murdered three Israelis earlier this week in Nahariya has been arrested. Ahmed Habaishi was arrested, just like his brother a few days ago, on suspicion of having helped his father commit the crime - specifically, by driving him to the site.
Labor and Welfare Minister Shlomo Benizri (Shas) has confirmed that national insurance payments distributed to the dependents of deceased persons also applies to the relatives of suicide terrorists. He explained that the law does not make an exception for one whose death involved the killing of others, such as the above Israeli-Arab suicide terrorist who committed the Nahariya attack. His two wives are thus eligible for monthly stipends of 2,800 shekels each. The same is true for the family of the terrorist who was killed after he shot and wounded several people at Defense Ministry offices in Tel Aviv last month, and that of an Israeli-Arab leader of the Islamic Jihad who was killed by Israeli forces.
Minister Benizri said that his office had recommended an amendment to the law, but Attorney-General Elyakim Rubenstein objected at the time. MK Tzvi Hendel has already drafted legislation to \"end this craziness,\" and plans to submit it when the Knesset reconvenes next month. Asi Talmon, Hendel\'s aide, said that the MK will ask for an exemption from the requirement to \'place the bill,\' in the hope that the legislation process will take only a few days, instead of months.
In a related item, Kibbutz Bachan, east of Raanana and not far from PA-controlled Tul Karem, is on strike. Parents in the Labor Party-affiliated kibbutz did not send their children to school today when they found out that that a bus company with Israeli-Arab drivers had won the contract to drive the children to school. Kibbutz members, who have experienced the terrorist murders of three Israeli citizens over the past few weeks in their vicinity, now feel that Arab drivers would present a danger to their children.
