The Labor Party elections deadlock: The party\'s Legal Committee will convene tomorrow to choose a new Elections Committee Chairman. It will be recalled that the election, which was held nine days ago, featured a tight race between Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg for the position of party leader. Burg ended up with a narrow lead of about 1,100 votes, but the Ben-Eliezer camp accused the other of \"stealing\" the vote in several Druze polling stations. The Burg camp then raised similar counter-accusations. Effie Shtenzler resigned as Elections Committee Chairman earlier this week after the both camps rejected his proposal to conduct revotes in 30 polling stations, with each side choosing 15. Following the rejection of the compromise, the problem will apparently have to be solved in the criminal courts - a process which could take over a month.
