Residents of Sderot ran for cover amidst preparations for the Sabbath Friday after the 'Red Dawn' system went off, giving them 20 seconds to find a secure area before a Kassam rocket fell on the town. No injuries or damage were reported. Two Kassam rockets were fired Thursday evening, toward Sderot and Kibbutz Karmiya, the community in which a family expelled from Gaza suffered injuries from a Kassam strike last Friday.
Seven Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were apprehended in operations carried out in Shechem, Hevron, Kalandia and Bethlehem overnight. No members of the security forces were injured in the operations.
Yiftach district police also arrested 87 PA Arabs found in the greater Tel Aviv area illegally Thursday.
For the second straight week, Israeli Police set limitations for Muslim prayers at the Temple Mount Friday to men over the age of 45, as well as women and girls holding Israeli ID cards in a bid to avoid anti-cartoon riots that have swept the Muslim world in recent weeks. The riots have occurred all over the Muslim world, including Europe, following caricature drawings of Islam’s founder Mohammed published in newspapers around Europe.
