Ruthie Shwai, 46, and her husband had just left their home in the Shomron community of Alfei Menashe, not far from the Green Line northeast of Tel Aviv. They were traveling on Route 55 shortly after 7:00pm on Wednesday night, the main vehicular artery in the area when terrorists from a passing vehicle fired shots. The bullets pierced a window, striking Ruthie.

Emergency medical service personnel attempted to resuscitate the gravely wounded woman without success. She was pronounced dead in the ambulance en route to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba. Her husband was very lightly wounded and was treated for shock.

Ruthie, a mother to two, became the 19th victim of Arab terrorism in the past 16 days.

Less than one-hour later, in the Benjamin Regional Council district of the Shomron, a motorist was shot and lightly wounded at Parsa Junction, northwest of Jerusalem.
