Dov Zakheim, a member of the NY City Council, told Arutz-7 today there is most certainly a large number of Jews from Flatbush, Boro Park, and other areas among the missing. He also said that during the mass flight across the Brooklyn Bridge and other bridges out of southern Manhattan, Jews wearing yarmulkes were attacked by \"members of the minority community, blacks and Latinos,\" who punched them and said, \"It\'s all your fault, get out of here, go back to your country.\"

In addition, Zakheim said, \"there were members of the Muslim community in the heart of Flatbush who thought that it was time to celebrate a little, and when the police heard about it, they moved in and [stopped it].\"

On the other hand, MK Benny Elon, also speaking from New York, said that he had encountered a number of people who showed increased empathy with the Israeli cause as a result of the catastrophe.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said today that yesterday\'s terrorism was an act of war, \"and I promise that the U.S. will respond as if it were a war. The campaign will not end with an attack on a particular person. This is a war that will be waged over a long time and on many fronts. The American people totally understand that this is war, and are interested in a comprehensive response.\"
