Aloh Naaleh, an organization dedicated to building motivation for Aliyah (immigration to Israel) among North American Jewry, will be holding a Melaveh Malkah event this Saturday night.

Hundreds of students from over a dozen yeshivot are expected to attend the event, entitled, "Planning Your Future." The Jerusalem Municipality's Absorption Authority is participating in sponsoring the event, at the Renaissance Hotel in Jerusalem, beginning at 7:30.

Among the participating yeshivot in Jerusalem are: HaKotel, HaMivtar, Machon Lev, Darche Noam, Derech Etz Chaim, Netiv Aryeh, Or David, Shaarei Yerushalayim, Torat Chaim, and Torat Shraga.

Yeshivot outside Jerusalem are Har Etzion, Kerem B'Yavneh, Reishit Yerushalayim, Birkat Moshe, Shaalvim, Shaarei Mevaseret, and Yesodei HaTorah.

Rabbi Sholom Gold, the Rabbi of Congregation Zichron Yosef in Har Nof, Jerusalem and the Dean of the Avrom Silver Jerusalem College for Adults, will address the students. Dr. Moshe Sokol, Dean of Lander College for Men, and Dr. Joseph Bodenheimer, the President of JCT-Machon Lev., will also speak.

Chaim Dovid and his band will perform.

The number of foreign students currently studying in Israel is estimated in the thousands. Rabbi Yerachmiel Roness, Director of Aloh Naaleh, says the number of foreign students in Yeshivot and university programs in Israel could be high as 5,000, "of whom possibly more than 3,000 are yeshivot."

Of those, close to 1,000 are enrolled in Yeshiva University's Israel Program - and YU will be hosting a Career Fair to enable them to plan their future in Israel. The event will be held on Friday, January 20 at 9:30 a.m. at the Renaissance Hotel in Jerusalem.

“While students studying in Israel are looking to return to the US for college," said Mark Lehrman, Director of YU's S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program, "they will be able to meet men and women who have had, or currently have, satisfying careers in the US and in Israel.”

“This is not about making aliyah,” notes Lehrman - despite the fact that Nefesh B’Nefesh (NBN), a major force in North American Aliyah over the past four years, is co-sponsoring the event.

NBN Executive Director Rabbi Yehoshua Fass explained, "These students... hold enormous promise both as individuals and as part of the larger community and should therefore be exposed to all possibilities as adult Jews, including Aliyah, where their talents can be invested in our land and their idealism can shape its future."
