IDF forces continue, since last night, to tightly encircle the northern Shomron PA-controlled city of Jenin, known as \"Suicide Central.\" The IDF announced that the operation will last for 72 hours, but could be extended if necessary. Twenty tanks and armored vehicles closed in on the city from three directions, with two helicopters and a drone circling overhead, and the IDF is tightly controlling all city exits. Arabs fired at the tanks as they approached, whereupon the tanks fired a shell, destroying the building from where the shooting came. Exchanges of fire ensued in other areas around Jenin, and three additional targets were destroyed, belonging to Force 17 and the Palestinian National Security organs.
Army sources said that the operation is designed against terrorist elements and the PA, \"which is doing nothing to prevent attacks.\" There are currently no plans to enter the city, although Arab sources are daring them to do so, saying that \"our cemeteries are waiting for you.\" A Prime Minister\'s Office statement said that all the terrorist organizations centered their activities in Jenin with cooperation from the Palestinian Authority. The most recent suicide terrorist to be sent from Jenin was the Israeli-Arab who killed three Israelis on Sunday in Nahariya.
