IDT, an international call center in Jerusalem’s Har Hotzvim Technology Park, has committed itself to hire at least 200 permanent new workers in the coming weeks. They will join the 850 employees already working at the company.
In addition to routine hiring of new workers, IDT is seeking 200 workers to become AOL consultants. They will undergo a paid 4-week in-house training program, during which they will begin work in answering AOL-related queries.
“There are many, many highly skilled English speakers out there, and we are going to find them and bring them into IDT,” says Judy Lowy, IDT Director of Recruitment. “Top facilities and competitive salaries are complemented by our commitment to place people on long-term career paths, allowing them to perform and progress in our company.”
IDT founder and chairman Howard Jonas, an observant Jew from Riverdale, New York, decided in July 2002 to "share the wealth" with Israel's struggling economy while providing employment for new immigrants as well. What began at the time as a small-scale 30-person project servicing IDT phone customers has now become a 24-hour-a-day business soon to employ over 1,000 workers.
Many of the employees who spoke on an Arutz-7 radio program recorded at the IDT center last year noted its "fun," easy-going and very friendly environment. "Six couples have even gotten married after having met here," one person said.
IDT has initiated a series of recent initiatives to spur employment. Employees from as far as Dimona and Be'er Sheva are reimbursed for their travel expenses. A weekly recruitment event, held at the company’s Jerusalem offices every Tuesday at 1:00pm, regularly attracts 50 or more potential employees. Other projects include free seminars open to the general public and a campaign to help unemployed former residents of Gush Katif.
For the massive January hiring, IDT is looking for mother-tongue English speakers who have a familiarity with computers. For additional information on available jobs, send email to jobs@idtglobal.com .
