A driver and teacher became the latest victims of the ongoing Oslo War. Terrorists at about 8:00am opened fire with automatic weapons at a van transporting teachers from Beit Shean to a Jordan Valley area school while traveling on Route 90, about 500 meters from the Adam Bridge Junction.
The van was riddled with bullets. The driver was gravely wounded and the teacher was killed immediately. Despite resuscitation efforts, the driver died a short time later.
Two teachers sustained relatively light wounds. They were transported to HaEmek Hospital in Afula. A third teacher that was more seriously wounded was transported by military chopper to the trauma unit of Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital, in Ein Kerem. Officials in the trauma unit list the condition of the 32-year-old female as moderate.
Jordan Valley Regional Council head David Levy explained the van used to transport the teachers was not bulletproof since the IDF does not require bulletproofing for any vehicles other than the school buses which must be able to withstand shooting attacks. Municipality officials added that there are not adequate funds available to bulletproof all the vehicles even if they wished to.
PA sources report that PA security officials are emptying security headquarters in Ramallah and Shechem in anticipation of IDF retaliatory raids.
