The Jewish Agency reports that 883 new immigrants have come from Argentina this year, 40% more than last year, the largest increase from any one country in 2001. Yerachmiel Barilka, who immigrated from Argentina 25 years ago and maintains contact with new immigrants from his former homeland, says that in addition to the \"dedicated and hard-working\" Jewish Agency emissaries there, representatives of cities in northern Israel have arrived in Argentina to seek out Jews and encourage them to move to Israel.



Prime Minister Sharon, addressing representatives of the Jewish community in Moscow this week, said that Israel needs another million Jews in the coming years in order to guarantee its Jewish majority, and called for massive aliyah. See for further information.
