The world\'s largest Rosh Hashanah Card, made up of over 42,000 individual cards, is headed for Israel next week. The record-breaking card stands over 400 feet long and covers an area of over 6,000 square feet (half a dunam). The project was jointly sponsored by the Israel Emergency Solidarity Fund and The Jewish Literacy Foundation, and involved pupils in over 600 schools from all over the United States in a one-of-a-kind solidarity effort with Israel.

The card was formally presented yesterday by IES Fund founder Neil Thalheim to 15-year-old Rita Abramov, who was severely wounded in the Dolphinarium suicide attack this past June that killed 21 young Israelis. The occasion was a ceremony at New York City Hall, hosted by Mayor Giuliani. Next week, the giant card will be presented in a similar ceremony in Jerusalem to representatives of the children of all victims wounded in the past year\'s violence. The card will be on tour in Israel for a week, and will then be broken up into 100 sections and delivered to schools all over Israel. The plan is for the students to form pen-pal relationships with their counterparts in the U.S. who helped make the card.
