The army was partially successful in a liquidation attempt today. Four missiles from two Apache helicopters rocked a jeep near Tul Karem this afternoon; two terrorists were killed, but the main target, Raad el-Karmi, was moderately wounded. El-Karmi is the head of a terrorist cell backed by Fatah leader Marwan Bargouti, and took part in the kidnapping and murder of the two cousins from Tel Aviv, Moti Dayan and Etgar Zaitouni in January. He is also responsible for the murders of Tzvika Shelef of Mevo Dotan on May 31, Danny Yehuda of Chomesh on June 18, Eliyahu Ne\'eman of Petach Tikvah on July 4, and Dov Rozman of Netanya on August 26. The IDF spokesman emphasized that El-Karmi was involved in dozens of other attacks as well, and that the PA took no action against him even though Israel had informed the PA of his activities.
It was also reported today that Israeli security forces had uncovered two terrorist cells, responsible between them for many shooting attacks in the N\'vei Tzuf region, including the murder of IDF officer Ya\'ir Nebentzahl.
After a relatively quiet day yesterday, Palestinian violence resumed today with a bang. A N\'vei Tzuf resident was wounded in his hand by terrorist fire near Karnei Shomron, and a soldier was also lightly hurt by Arab fire. Arabs shot at IDF positions in Antenna Hill, Netzarim and Ganei Tal this morning. Also in Gaza, terrorists hurled a grenade at the District Coordinating Office in N\'vei Dekalim.
In Hevron this morning, an Arab attempted to stab a soldier but escaped with a wound of his own for his trouble. He came to the marketplace area with a little girl, and suddenly pulled out a knife at a soldier on patrol. The latter shot at the leg of his attacker, who ran away towards Palestinian-controlled area.
The brother of one of the Israeli-Arab teenagers arrested yesterday - for placing a bomb at the Golani Junction last week - is an IDF soldier serving in Gaza. The brother\'s fellow patrol soldier is the one who discovered the bomb and prevented it from going off. A small minority of Arabs serves in the Israel Defense Forces.
