Another success for the GSS and Israel Police: Following yesterday\'s announcement of the arrest of six PFLP terrorists who had planned a series of major attacks in Jerusalem and elsewhere, the arrest of eight Fatah terrorists in the Shomron was announced today. The cell members had thrown firebombs and rocks at Israeli cars, and planned to place explosives along Yesha roads. Arafat\'s Force 17 supplied the bombs. The terrorists told their interrogators that the beefed-up security presence on the Shomron roads deterred them from carrying out some of their plans.

IDF soldiers thwarted a terrorist attempt north of the Sufah Crossing in southern Gaza this morning. The alert troops identified two powerful explosives that had been placed on the border fence. The bombs were checked and later blown up in a controlled fashion. Earlier today, two mortar shells were found that had been fired at the fields of Kibbutz Nir Am, east of the northern Gaza Strip.
