Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, on a three-day visit to Russia, met today with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and afterwards with President Vladimir Putin. Sharon will participate in a large assembly this evening with the Jewish community, organized by the Israeli Embassy in Moscow.
The Israeli leader received word of today\'s Jerusalem bombing while speaking with Ivanov. Sharon was in the midst of trying to enlist Russian help in a worldwide campaign to exert pressure on Arafat to stop the violence. The Prime Minister is also attempting to convince President Putin to reduce nuclear supplies and information to Iran. Efforts to interest Russian businessmen in Israeli opportunities are also high on the trip\'s agenda.
