Army security personnel rounded up 23 Islamic Jihad and Hamas terrorists in a sweep on the terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. Near Jenin, the Arabs threw explosive devices at the forces, and one IDF soldier was injured.
White House national security advisor Stephen Hadley told an American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Los Angeles that the American government has sharpened its insistence that the Palestinian Authority (PA) crack down on Islamic Jihad terrorists.
"We have made it very clear to him [PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas], especially in the wake of the vicious attack in Hadera, that he should begin by acting promptly and forcefully against Palestinian Islamic Jihad," Hadley said. "The PA must make good on that promise by fighting terrorism."
Most of the IDF arrests have been in the urban Samarian centers of Tulkarm, Jenin and Shechem.
In the south, Arab terrorists Monday night fired another Kassam rocket which landed in an open field between the Kibbutzes Sa'ad and Mefalsim. The IDF responded with artillery fire at open areas in northern Gaza.
