Weiss, who has been in the forefront of the battle for the Land of Israel ever since the early 1970's, was arrested on Thursday during an attempt by dozens of youths to build a new outpost outside Kedumim.
The Prosecution asked for Mayor Weiss' incarceration until the end of the legal proceedings against her. The judge met the prosecution half-way, ruling that Ms. Weiss must continue to be held under house arrest until the end of the proceedings. She has been held there since Thursday.
Outside the courthouse, five young females were arrested as they demonstrated against Weiss' arrest. The five girls were charged with attacking policemen while the demonstration was being dispersed, but were released shortly afterwards.
The Land of Israel Youth organization organized the four-pronged initiative to expand the Jewish presence in Israel, of which the outpost in Kedumim was one. The other attempts were made outside Efrat, Kiryat Arba and Elon Moreh.
An update of the situation at the new outposts at present, as provided by Yishai Fishman of the Land of Israel Youth organization:
The Hevron Heroes outpost, known as Tel Giborim, on the road between Kiryat Arba and Hevron, was razed by the army last night. Last night was the first time that no youths slept there.
Elon Moreh - Though the army has evacuated the site several times since it was built last week, many youths continue to go up again each time shortly afterwards.
Kedumim - The army evacuated the outpost yesterday, but a small group of youth has gone up again.
Many of the youths are planning to spend the coming Sabbath at either Elon Moreh or Kedumim. They will be "happenings to be remembered," Yishai said.
