Even as quiet reigns in Gilo, the PLO and other terrorist factions continue their warfare against the Jewish State in Hevron and elsewhere.
This past Sabbath was hardly peaceful for the Jews of Hevron. Beginning Friday night and almost throughout the Sabbath, terrorists from the Shalhevet (Abu Sneineh) and Harat a-Sheikh hills overlooking the Jewish neighborhoods attacked with automatic weapons and firebombs. Yesterday afternoon, an eight-year-old boy was lightly wounded in his face by terrorist gunfire. An IDF soldier was also lightly hurt in a firebomb attack. Exchanges of gunfire continued sporadically into the night.
Finally, last night, the Israeli Defense Forces deployed a tank and fired at terrorist positions in Hevron, partially destroying them. Also overnight, Israeli return fire killed two terrorists, affiliated with the Tanzim militia, who were positioned on Givat Shalhevet. Spokesmen for the Jewish community of Hevron have demanded that the army return permanently to those areas from which terrorists continue to attack.
