Another winner of the Omanut La\'Am (National Arts) Prize has been announced: The municipal leadership of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, headed by Mayor Sha\'ul Goldstein. Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem, was recognized for being an \"outlying community that excels in activities of culture and arts,\" and for intensifying \"its varied and high-quality cultural activities for the benefit of its residents\" since the outbreak of violence almost a year ago.

The most recent example is a production of \"Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat,\" performed by women of Gush Etzion who formed the Efrat/Gush Etzion Raise Your Spirits Summer Stock Company for the purpose. The idea was conceived as a morale-builder, following several terrorist murders that rocked the area. More than 120 women are volunteering to perform and work backstage to create one of the largest casts in a charitable performance in Greater Jerusalem. Producer Sharon Katz says, \"It is our gift to the women of Yesha, and in fact all of Israel,\" while Director Toby Greenwald notes with exhilaration, \"This musical is our response to the \'situation...\' It is really an all-for-one and one-for-all experience!\" All four scheduled performances have been sold out - a fifth one is in the planning stages - and large groups of spectators from all around the country, including Raanana, Beit Shemesh, Tekoa, Beit El, and elsewhere, have reserved tickets. Proceeds will go to charity.
