Israeli security forces apprehended a four-man terrorist cell in northern Jerusalem last night and this morning - ending with the capture of one terrorist hiding in a car trunk. The story began last night when police received word of a terrorist cell on its way from Ramallah to carry out an attack in Jerusalem. An undercover unit set out, identifying the group shortly afterwards in Beit Hanina. One of them, carrying two automatic rifles, was arrested on the spot; he was in fact on his way to carry out a shooting attack in a northern Jerusalem neighborhood. A second terrorist was arrested after he escaped to a nearby building, and then tried to blend in with the 20 Arabs who were detained after they were ordered by police to leave the building. This morning, continued police efforts led to the arrest of the remaining two terrorists - one who was hiding in the trunk of the car driven by the other.
In another Jerusalem incident, two Arabs stabbed a guard at the Mt. Zion hotel across the valley from the Old City. He was stabbed in his hand and taken for medical treatment. Police are looking for the assailants.
