Attorney-General Elyakim Rubenstein has decided to indict Minister Salah Tarif, the first Druze minister in an Israeli government. Tarif will be charged with accepting a bribe of thousands of dollars while serving as Knesset Interior Committee Chairman to obtain Israeli citizenship for a Palestinian friend. The charge sheet claims that Tarif passed on bribe money to an Interior Ministry clerk who is also likely to be indicted. Tarif, who was among those chosen by popular vote in the Labor Party\'s Central Committee to represent it in the government, will have to resign his post upon receiving the indictment.
