\"I am very proud that for the first time in several years, everyone knows as early as three days before the school year that there will be no strike and school will in fact begin on schedule.\" So said Education Minister Limor Livnat today, after the teachers\' and parents\' unions announced today that all issues had been settled. \"It\'s a refreshing thing to be able to wake up on the first day of school without having to worry whether there will or will not be school,\" she said. The teachers union and Finance Ministry representatives reached an agreement last night enabling the return to work of some of the 400 technological teachers who were fired last year.

The Knesset Education Committee will visit the Shomron city of Ariel on Sunday, the first day of classes, and will monitor an experimental high-speed intranet project connecting the city\'s homes, schools, and municipal offices.
