The Arab terrorist war against Israel heated up last night and this morning, as a mortar fell on Israel\'s capital city of Jerusalem. Shooting at Gilo continues as well, mostly from the direction of Bethlehem, despite the IDF presence in Beit Jala, source of previous attacks. The mortar landed in Gilo between the community center and a school, but did not injure any of the dozens of people in the area. High-powered bullets fired into the neighborhood last night struck a television van during an interview with Jerusalem Mayor Olmert, who has demonstratively taken up residence in Gilo. The shots narrowly missed him and members of the television crew. There were no injuries reported there as of this morning.

In other Jerusalem-area attacks, soldiers came under gunfire at an IDF checkpoint in Har Homa and at Rachel\'s Tomb in PA-controlled Bethlehem. There were also heavy exchanges of gunfire in the City of the Patriarchs, Hevron, including terrorist gunfire originating in a mosque near the Admat Yeshai (Tel Romeida) neighborhood. The IDF response included the use of an anti-tank rocket fired at terrorists in the Herat el-Sheikh area of Hevron. No injuries were reported.
