An Arab motorist was killed and two were lightly injured after an early morning shooting attack on their car on the Anatot road, towards Maaleh Adumim east of Jerusalem. Magen David Adom medics transported the injured to the Hadassah-Ein Karem hospital in Jerusalem. The vehicle had license plates issued by the Palestinian Authority, and initial police evaluations were therefore that this was a revenge attack carried out by Jews. An anonymous message claimed that it was in vengeance for the Arab terrorist murder of Elon Moreh resident Hillel Lieberman, one year ago. However, as the message was received by correspondents after the news of the attack became public, it remains unconfirmed.
The Council of Judea, Samaria and Gaza Communities denounced the attack and called on Israeli security services to do all in their power to apprehend the “base murderers.” The Council’s released statement says that “murder is murder… attacks on innocents are forbidden, regardless of whether they are Jews or Arabs.”
