Sharon sat and listened to Eitam’s harsh words at a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Eitam’s statement compared Sharon’s Negev ranch with the Mukatah, the embattled compound in Ramallah that served as fortress headquarters for Yassir Arafat, and now houses his successor, Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

Eitam told Sharon that while nobody would dare harm him physically, Eitam’s constituency would make sure Sharon gets sent back to his ranch where the only thing he would be responsible for would be petting the sheep.

“We will not sit with you in any coalition,” said Eitam, “nor will we be ministers in your government. We will take political revenge against you,” he said.

MK Uzi Landau (Likud), who has declared his candidacy to succeed Sharon as head of the Likud, also spoke sharply to the prime minister. “You have brought Israel to new heights of corruption,” he said. “You’re not worthy of being a leader. You’re a liar, a cheater, and a crook.”
