The new aid package provides for increasing the number of hotel rooms available for expellees from 1000 to 2000 rooms, and aid to families who need to rebury their dead relatives from graves in the Gaza district.

According to the committee, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided to offer expellees, who choose to go to a hotel, three meals a day for their families. Sharon, who attended the committee meeting, said that new groups of expellees have asked to form communities together in the Negev. Sharon said the government would make an effort to help them carry out their plans.

The committee also decided to order another 130 “caravillot”, 90 square meter temporary dwellings for expellees, but only for families who have accepted compensation from the government.

In addition, the committee will be allocating funds for the construction of public buildings in Negev towns where many of the expellees are expected to settle, such as Yad Binyamin, Mavki’im, Carmia, Ohr Ha-ner and Miflasim.

In the Galilee, the committee will begin planning infrastructure for permanent housing in the towns of Buston Hagalil, Magen Shaul, and Ein Tzurim.
