The residents of the two towns are slated for expulsion under the government’s plan to forcibly expel Jews from their homes in Gaza and northern Samaria.

The army set up a roadblock Tuesday morning with the aim of preventing the free movement of Jews, near the Jalame crossing point, north of Jenin.

Under Gen. Naveh's order, the area surrounding the two towns has been declared a closed military zone. Entering the zone without a permit issued by the IDF is deemed a criminal offense.

Residents in northern Samaria have called on the public to defy the military order as a means of strengthening opposition to the impending expulsion of the towns’ residents.

Since Gaza was declared a closed military zone for Jews, thousands of Israelis have successfully penetrated the region, significantly bolstering the area’s population prior to the pullout. The pullout is expected to begin next week, after the ninth of Av fast.

Residents of Ganim and Kadim have expressed fears that the IDF will not allow food to reach their towns or the students studying in yeshivot in the other two communities set for expulsion - Sa-Nur and Homesh. Although the latter two towns are also slated to be destroyed under the plan, Tuesday’s order does not apply to them. Security officials worry that the moment they declare those towns closed, much of their time will be spent "playing cat and mouse with activists seeking to enter."

The IDF has not resorted to starvation as a means of applying pressure on the towns’ residents, but anti-expulsion activists do not rule out this possibility.

As a precaution, residents are stocking up on food and water, and have requested the public contribute food and funds before the forced expulsion begins.

The communities are requesting that the public to contribute the following materials: water, crackers, tuna fish, sardines, milk, cornflakes, chocolate, olives, corn, blankets, mattresses, towels, paper cups, plates, dishes, bowls, garbage bags, books and articles for Torah study, prayer books, psalms, tables, fans, chairs, freezers, ovens, cooking gas, and sleeping bags.
