The PA reported on Sunday that armed residents of Gush Katif "assaulted and destroyed an ambulance" and wounded medics in the Arab city of Khan Yunis. An army spokeswoman said, "We do not know anything of such an incident and it does not seem logical." She explained that the Palestinian Authority (PA) mans a barrier at Khan Yunis and that the IDF is stationed between the city and Gush Katif.
The PA news agency quoted its Health minister Moaweya Hasanein as saying that the Jewish residents held up the ambulance for more than three hours during a "vicious attack" while a heart patient was inside the ambulance. Hasanein claimed that appeals to the international community pressured the Jews to stop the alleged attack.
The Israeli government repeatedly has said that an end to incitement as well as an end to terrorism are conditions for Israel's carrying out the plan to dismantle 25 Jewish communities in Gaza and northern Samaria and turn the areas over to the PA.
The PA news agency has reported with increasing frequency that residents throughout Judea and Samaria have assaulted or killed Arabs. It also has published daily accounts of supposed IDF invasions in towns and villages and subsequent alleged killings of Arabs.
The PA web site often quotes eyewitness accounts of alleged beatings, but international and local media have not reported any altercation except for battles between quarreling Arab terrorist factions.
