Addressing the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee this morning, Diskin said that the Hamas terrorists' interest will be to maintain quiet in Gaza - but to heat up Judea and Samaria at the same time. Hamas hopes that terrorism in these areas will lead to Israeli retreats there as well.

The GSS chief roused the ire of left-wing Knesset Members when he said that he can understand the anti-disengagement road-blockers. He said that this is an illegal act, but "given the difficult period and the very sharp process that is underway, the demonstrators can be understood."

MK Yossi Sarid (Meretz-Yachad) said that it is "not appropriate" for an official of Diskin's rank to show understanding towards road-blockers. "This is a dangerous phenomenon and should not be treated with patience," Sarid said.

A Hamas web site recently boasted that the terror organization is producing Kassam rockets in Judea and Samaria and will use them against Israel. The website stated that the rockets are the "weapons of the hour" and will be used in the next stage of violence against Jewish communities.
