IsraAID, the Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid, continues to maintain several projects dealing with food and emergency relief distribution in Southeast Asia, caring for thousands of internally displaced people living in camps.
IsraAID is also running programs helping women play a more substantive role in their families' sustenance, the construction of temporary and permanent housing, and running psycho-social rehabilitative programs for the local populace.
It is estimated that 270,000 people died in the massive tsunami, including nearly 31,000 in Sri Lanka, and that half a million people were made homeless.
