The gold medals were won by teenage Judokas Shachar Levy and David Mamistvalov in the 2005 European Judo Cadet Championships in Salzburg, Austria this week.

Levy, age 15, competed in the under-44 kilogram weight class for women, and Mamistvalov, 16, in the over-90 kilogram weight class for men. Judoka Aviv Hatzir took home the bronze medal in the 81 kilogram category for men. The male Israeli Judo cadets came in third place as a team, with the entire Israeli team in fifth place, ahead of most Western European states.

Last week, another two Israeli teams brought home silver medals in the 470 European Championships in Poland. Udi Gal and Nir Klieger were the second place winners in the men's competition, and Vered Buskila and Nika Kornitzki did the same in the women's competition.

Earlier this month, Israeli Alexander Danilov took the silver medal in the men's 50-meter pistol shoot at the Shooting World Cup in Munich. He finished up with a total score of 665.8. Danilov won the gold medal in the 10-meter pistol event at the European Championships in Germany in 1999, as well as the bronze medal at the 2001 Atlanta World Cup.
