Zakariya Zubeidi, an Al-Aksa Brigades terrorist from Jenin who has planned multiple bloody attacks on Israeli civilians, told the Hebrew daily Yediot Aharonot that he has no intention of arresting terrorists as part of his new job. “I’m not going to stop any Palestinian activist [sic],” he said. “It’s obvious for Palestinians that there are no arrests on political backgrounds. We will deal with maintaining law and order and the security of the Palestinian people.”

Both Israel and the United States are demanding that PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas use the police force, which was given rifles by Israel as part of the 1993 Oslo Accords, to crack down on terror groups.

Zubeidi is one of the terrorists on Israel’s most-wanted list for coordinating attacks on Israelis. He claims that as a PA police officer he will not have to change any of his behavior. “Even a Palestinian police officer serves the Palestinian people,” he said. “He protects their safety, property and rights. There is no difference whether I’m a field agent [sic] fighting for the Palestinian people or if I’m a man of law.”

495 other wanted men and terrorists have also been recruited to the PA security forces, according to Israel Radio. They are expected to receive additional arms and police uniforms once Israel hands over Jenin to PA control.
