Rabbi Avraham Pam, a leading Torah scholar in New York and the head of the well-known Yeshiva Torah Vodaat in Brooklyn, died Friday morning in a Brooklyn hospital at the age of 88. His funeral on Friday afternoon drew thousands of mourners. A noted speaker and writer on Talmudic issues in modern life, Rabbi Pam was a member of the Council of Sages of Agudath Yisrael, and was active on behalf of immigrants to the U.S. from the former Soviet Union.
