The United States NASA Administrator, Daniel S. Goldin, arrived in Israel yesterday at the head of a five-person delegation. Science, Culture and Sports Minister Matan Vilnai noted the importance of the NASA visit and said: “I hope this visit will serve as a catalyst for future cooperation between the two countries, especially in light of the expected launch of the first Israeli astronaut into space.” The NASA delegation will meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Israel Air Force Commander Major-General Dan Halutz.

A variety of issues will be raised in the planned working meetings, such as space research in Israel, physical effort under stress and atmospheric and nanotechnological research.
