Over 400 students gathered to learn about practical aspects of life in Israel for college students and recent graduates at Yeshiva University on Wednesday. Just a few days earlier, hundreds of Israel supporters at Columbia University held an all-day fair promoting long- and short-term programs for students and graduates in Israel.

In addition to information about Aliyah and Israel programs, students were bombarded with Israeli style food, Israeli and Jewish music, and numerous consumer products made in Israel.

Rachie Jacobson, student organizer of the Aliyah fair at Yeshiva University was extremely pleased with the event. “We are fortunate to have a large number of students who are interested in a practical Aliyah,” Jacobson said Thursday on IsraelNationalRadio's Aliyah Revolution Show.

Signaling a shift in the campus attitude towards Aliyah for recent university graduates, Jacobson added, "This is just the first step in creating an atmosphere of Aliyah. It creates a sense of camaraderie amongst all those who want to make Aliyah.”

The fairs were made possible by a number of organizations promoting travel to Israel, representing a recent of resources available to college students interested in coming to Israel.

Hillel, Nefesh B'Nefesh - Jewish Souls United, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and Destination Israel helped make the two events possible.

Immigration to Israel by recent college graduates is on the rise. This past January, a Nefesh B'Nefesh planeload of new immigrants from North America included nearly 300 unmarried, young adults.

Jacobson claims to have wanted to make Aliyah since the age of ten, and intends to make her childhood dreams a reality shortly after her graduation from Yeshiva University.
