The wounded victim was flown to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, where he is listed in moderate-to-serious condition. IDF forces have encircled the house in the Arab-populated Gaza city of Khan Yunis from where the shots were fired.
Shortly before the attack, a bomb was detonated against IDF soldiers operating in the Rafiah area of southern Gaza. No one was hurt.
Yesterday (Monday), two Arabs of the Palestinian Authority tried to pass through a roadblock southwest of Shechem, near Mt. Gerizim. The soldiers at the checkpoint spotted a pipe bomb on one of them, and upon further search, found two more bombs on his person. The second terrorist then tried to stab one of the soldiers with a knife, but was quickly subdued. The explosives were detonated in a controlled manner by IDF sappers.
Triple Attack Planned
Still more news of the ongoing Palestinian terror war against Israel was released for publication yesterday: An Arab terror cell was nabbed three months ago while planning a triple bomb attack at the Latrun junction on the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway. The terrorists planned to use a car-bomb and two suicide-bombers to carry out the attack, which was to target the IDF Armored Corps Museum at Latrun (pictured above) as well as motorists.
One of the terrorists had previously been employed in the Latrun area.
The cell also planned on attacking an IDF jeep in the Ramallah region. The scheme involved killing the soldiers and using their bodies as bargaining chips in order to win the release of terrorists from Israeli prisons.
The three terrorists, members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, were arrested on January 9th, the day of the PA elections, but details of the arrest were suppressed until now.
Another Hamas terrorist, an Arab man with Israeli citizenship, was also arrested by the GSS (General Security Service) in recent days. Ashraf Dahiya, from the Old City of Jerusalem, admitted to being recruited by Hamas handlers while visiting Gaza, and was trained to carry out terror attacks inside Israel’s pre-1967 borders. He reportedly also tried to convince a relative of his to become a suicide bomber, though he was turned down.
