Bentzi Lieberman, chairman of the Judea, Samaria and Gaza Council and head of the Samaria regional council, said, "I fear that the Sharon government is attempting to plant provocateurs in the Judea, Samaria and Gaza Council, in order to delegitimize our struggle." In order to fight such a possibility, Lieberman calls for activists to immediately report any acts of provocation among pro-Gush Katif activists.

Of recent acts that tended to stigmatize the anti-Disengagement activists, Lieberman noted that a sticker saying "Sharon, Lily is Waiting for You" - referring to Ariel Sharon's late wife - was exposed as the work of a police agent from Efrat, in Gush Etzion. As for the recent spate of protests that blocked major thoroughfares throughout Israel, Lieberman said, "The Judea, Samaria and Gaza Council is against such methods. We don't know who those people are and we have no doubt that some of them are agent provocateurs. We definitely fear that the police or the General Security Services are attempting to plant agent provocateurs among us, in order to entrap us."

The Council also expressed fury at the police decision not to close the streets in the vicinity of the Knesset to traffic during tomorrow's 36-hour mass protest there. The tens of thousands of people expected to attend the rally, Lieberman said, "will not be able to stand only on the sidewalk and the street will ultimately get blocked; and then we will be portrayed as lawless."

Lieberman charged that the provocations of the government agents among the anti-Disengagement protestors lead the police to prevent legitimate protest activities, as well. "The government of Israel is implementing an illegitimate policy, part of which includes planting agents in moderate organizations to delegitimize them," Lieberman said.
