A policeman drew his weapon yesterday after spotting a teenager in the Sharon Shopping Center in Netanya with wires protruding from his shirt. The alert law-enforcement officer immediately suspected the teen was concealing a bomb. After several long minutes, it was learned that the \"bomb\" was an external pacemaker device assisting the cardiac patient to maintain a regular heartbeat. The Arab teenager was taken to the police station where experts verified that the device was indeed a medical one. He was then released. On May 18, 2001, a suicide bomber detonated a device at the entrance to the same Sharon Center killing five persons wounding over 100.
