US officials stated yesterday that Israel\'s use of US-supplied equipment, including helicopters, is not being used for non-defensive purposes. Regarding the pre-emptive pinpoint strikes against terrorists, State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said that the US administration opposes Israel\'s judgement:
\"In terms of our political judgment about the situation and how to handle it, in terms of our regret of the loss of life and particularly things like the children who were killed, we do not believe that targeted killings is a good policy. We think it is wrong, and we think it is a terrible tragedy for many of the people that are affected by it.\"
However, Boucher emphasized that there has been no \"legal determination\" that Israel is violating the terms of the contract for use of the US-supplied military equipment.
