Dan Harel sharply criticized the police following a meeting with Uri Bar-Lev, the head of the police department's southern district. "From all the discussions, we learned how much they are not prepared as they should be for the task from the standpoints of practice, timetable and assigning responsibilities," he stated.

The senior army officer added that some police officers do not understand why they have been assigned the task of having to directly evacuate more than the 8,000 residents slated for expulsion from 25 communities in Gaza and northern Samaria.

Harel added that the massive manpower needed for the evacuation will make it difficult for the police to take care of crime and other day-to-day internal security assignments.

Police officials denied the charges and asserted they are ready for the task.
