Atty.-Gen. Elyakim Rubenstein instructed police to investigate Arab Knesset Member Talib El-Sana (United Arab List) for supporting Sunday\'s shooting attack in Tel Aviv during an interview with an Abu Dhabi news agency. El-Sana called the shooting which wounded ten Israelis “a legitimate part of the Palestinian struggle.” El-Sana said that the AG\'s decision is \"racist.\" Rubenstein said that no country would tolerate statements by members of parliament which justify an attempted murder of its soldiers and citizens in its cities.
Following a similar investigation, police on July 1 recommended filing criminal charges against Arab MK Azmi Bishara for statements at a Syrian state memorial ceremony in which he called upon leaders of Arab nations to increase their resistance against Israel. Police said that Bishara should be charged with incitement, cooperating with an enemy nation, furnishing information to a hostile nation and other related offenses. The Attorney General has yet to decide on the police recommendation.
