U.S. Senator Gordon Smith (R-Oregon) has introduced new legislation to pursue Palestinian Arab killers of Americans and help their victims\' families. A similar bill was introduced to the U.S. House of Reps. by Rob Andrews (D-NJ) and Jim Saxton (R-NJ), and is already co-sponsored by eight other representatives.

The bill would create a special unit within the Justice Department to gather evidence against Palestinian Arab killers of Americans; offer reward for information leading to their capture; arrange for the terrorists to be brought to the U.S. for trial; initiate negotiations with the Palestinian Authority for financial compensation for families of victims; and maintain a regular liaison with the families to update them on efforts to capture the killers.

Eighteen American citizens have been murdered by Palestinian Arab terrorists since the signing of the Oslo accords in 1993. Six of the 18 have been murdered in the violence that began last September. The Israeli government has identified, by name, 23 Arab terrorists involved in these killings; they are being sheltered by Yasser Arafat\'s regime. The U.S. government has never indicted any of these killers; nor has it even offered rewards for information leading to their capture, even though it routinely offers multi-million dollar rewards for information leading to the capture of terrorists who have murdered Americans elsewhere overseas (see www.dssrewards.net).
